Picker Institute Europe is a medical research charity whose mission is to improve the quality of healthcare in the UK through the patient’s eyes. We have fulfilled the client’s objective of raising awareness of its work among key audiences: patients and health professionals in the NHS. Projects have included an NHS national patient survey programme following the government’s commitment to ensuring that patients and the public have a real say in how NHS services are planned and developed. As well as dealing on a regular basis with editors and senior reporters on the national press we are required to work with client stakeholders and partners, such as the Department of Health and the Clinical Governance Support Team, to disseminate information on joint research initiatives and the publication of reports. Another key element of this client account is monitoring relevant news issues and opportunities in the healthcare arena, and responding with carefully constructed editorial viewpoint and comment pieces. : back
